Meridian Freight

Freight is a promise to somebody

Behind every load is a shelf that needs filling, a clinic waiting on stock, a job that cannot start until the pallet lands. We built the operation around that.

“A carrier earns its rate on the exceptions, not on the easy runs.”

Meridian started in 2011 with two box trucks and a lease on a dock on Doremus Avenue. The bet was simple: most freight arrives fine, and what a shipper is really paying for is what happens on the days it does not. So we built the operation around the exception — the detention, the missed window, the reefer drifting off set point — and made sure the shipper hears about it from us first.

Four terminals and a hundred and forty people later, that is still the only thing we ask to be measured on.

How we operate

What we hold ourselves to

Three things every terminal, dispatcher and driver is measured against.

Tell them before they ask

If a load is going to be late, the shipper hears it from us first. Every exception is surfaced the hour it happens, not at the end of the day.

The drivers know the buildings

Which dock, which lift, who signs. Route knowledge is the difference between a delivery and a failed attempt, so we keep drivers on the lanes they know.

One record, start to finish

Tender, route, temperature trace, signature and invoice line all hang off the same shipment. Nothing gets reconstructed from a phone log.

Who runs it

The people behind the network

Operators, not administrators. Between them, roughly a century on these lanes.
